If you want to reduce belly fat then you must first learn how to reduce fat. Learning how to lose stomach fat is no different than working to reduce thigh fat or any other area of our body.
There is a common misconception when it comes to fat loss. People think that to lose fat in certain areas of our bodies, we have to do exercises for those bodies. While exercise does help with fat loss, there is no way to specifically reduce fat in one area of your body alone.
Spot Reducing Fat – A Myth
Our bodies do not get rid of fat according to how we like. They reduce body fat based on our genetics and what areas of our bodies don’t need the excess fat. No matter how many crunches you do you still will most likely not reduce belly fat. If you want to lose stomach fat you’re going to have to cut calories.
Our bodies get rid of fat over our whole body. They do not get rid of fat in one specific area only. As a result, if you want to reduce belly fat you’re going to have to go on a program that focuses on an overall reduction of your body fat percentage.
The Low Percentage Equals The Abs
Many people simply want to get abs and lose stomach fat. To do this, however, you need to reduce your body fat percentage down to the level where abs become visible. On average, abs become visible around below 15%. When you get down below 10% that’s when the real “cut” and “ripped” ab look comes. This is the percentage where underwear models and bodybuilders try to get to. It requires lots of dieting and exercising and is very difficult.
To lose body fat percentages, you need to cut calories. This can be achieved through either dieting, exercising, or both. The best option is, of course, both.
